Barbecue Turkey Meatballs
Good slow-cooker barbecue turkey meatballs. Serve with mashed potatoes, fries, onion rings, or alone with toothpicks as a party appetizer. Maybe make a meatball sub?
Ingredients
- 2 lb 92-97% Lean Ground Turkey
- 2/3 cup Panko
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 Large Sweet Onion, diced
- 1 3/4 cup Barbecue Sauce
- 1/2 cup Italian Dressing
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
Recipe
Prepare a crock pot.
Beat the egg in a large mixing bowl. Add the ground turkey, panko, and spices, and mix just enough to combine - avoid over mixing. Roll into balls slightly larger than a golf ball and place on a baking sheet or plate.
Place onion slices in the bottom of the slow cooker. Then add half of the BBQ sauce, and half of the Italian dressing.
Add the oil to a large skillet and bring to medium-high heat. Lightly brown the meatballs in batches for about 1 minute on each side. Layer the meatballs into the slow cooker as each batch is browned.
Add remaining BBQ sauce and Italian dressing. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Serve warm with sauce and onions.
Enjoy!
